is a chick who's been having so much trouble in the past year just finding a place to live (much less the money to eat, maintain the internet connection to do commissions, and buy necessary toiletries), that it's ridiculous. Will you go to her page and consider commissioning her or donating? Her last known location is a local women's shelter, and she needs all the help she can get!

Draw the lines on top first. Not highest on the page (that would make no sense), but the lines of things that are more in the foreground than everything else. Always work from the lines on top to the lines underneath, not the other way around. Here's why:
It's virtually impossible to trace over a sketch precisely. Your hand IS going to slip, whether it's with a mouse or with a pen. If you're drawing something like hair or clothing, and you're trying to make the lines smooth and natural-looking, often the best way to do it is to try and follow the sketch lines but not precisely, letting the pen (or whatever) sweep into shape the same way a pencil line does. The more you try to trace precisely, usually, the worse it looks at the end.
If you do the top-most line first, then the lines under it, you can make sure those lines underneath don't cross the top-most line and make a mess. They have more definite boundaries. If you start with the lines underneath, then the top-most line can't flow very well, because you'd be too busy trying to make sure it didn't cross the underneath lines.
If that all make no sense, let me know, and I'll find a way to show you. x_x I have a webcam around here somewhere, I could probably film my hands.
XD Okay, then I'll try to remember to 'cam it the next time I'm lining. It'll look terrible *does not have a good webcam* and there'll probably be no sound *has faulty headset* but I'll try!
